Look! Up in the sky!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

No! It’s a class of kindergartners.

The homecoming celebration in the Charles City School District isn’t just for the older kids at the high school and middle school. The elementary students at Lincoln and even at Washington elementary schools took part in the festivities all week long as well.

Thursday was “Character/Dynamic Duo Thursday,” and all the schools were filled with superheroes, comic book characters, a few defenders of law and order, and even an occasional notorious villain.

Caley Johnson and her kindergarten students at Washington Elementary seemed prepared to defend truth, justice and the American way of life Thursday, dressed as superheroes.

Meanwhile, in the front office, the very dynamic duo of Julie Miller and Donna Lynch, Washington Elementary secretaries, were ready to keep the peace Thursday as sheriff and deputy. The pair keep the school day lawful and orderly every day, but Thursday they were dressed for the part.
