A suspect has been identified and attempted murder charges have been filed after an early morning stabbing that allegedly took place early Sunday morning in the parking lot in the 700 block of Riverside Drive in Charles City.

The Charles City Police Department is looking for 35-year old Trellis Bailey, who police Captain Brandon Franke said has lived in Charles City for some time.

Bailey is the suspect in a stabbing that took place Sunday just after 1:30 a.m., Franke said. Attempted murder charges against Bailey were filed Friday morning. Attempted murder is a Class B felony.

There were two victims in the stabbing, and each received non-life threatening injuries as a result of the attack, according to Franke. No victim information has been released to the public, but according to a Police Department press release, two victims were treated and released from the Floyd County Medical Center.

“Basically it’s still an ongoing case and we don’t want to identify victims,” said Franke.

When officers arrived on to the scene, it was discovered the victims had been taken by private vehicle to the medical center. The alleged suspect had left the scene, the press release said.

“Our next step is just finding him and getting him in and going from there,” said Franke.

The Police Department said the stabbing appears to be an isolated incident, because the victims and the suspect knew each other. The Police Department “does not feel the general public is in immediate danger from the suspect,” the press release said.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Bailey is asked to call the Charles City Police Department at 641-228-3366.
