Large crowd gathers for Hope For Life dessert

About 250 people turned out Sunday evening to celebrate life and support the Hope For Life Pregnancy Center in Charles City.

The second annual Fall Dessert Banquet at the Youth Enrichment Center at the county fairgrounds featured prayer, testimony, a keynote speaker and lots and lots of goodies.

Greg Baker, vice president of church engagement for The Family Leader Foundation was the guest speaker, talking about abortion in America and in Iowa and changes to its legal status.

Holly Caspers of Charles City told the crowd her personal story as a teenage mother who decided to have her baby despite hardships and how her family has been blessed through their faith.

Hope For Life Pregnancy Center in Charles City is a pro-life, Christ-based center offering support for pregnant women and their families; help for families facing unplanned pregnancies; educational services on respect for life; and post-abortive counseling; according to Executive Director June Temple.
