About 200 people showed up at the Floyd County Enrichment Center at the fairgrounds on Friday to enjoy dinner, drinks and an evening of all-request piano music.

The playlist covered everything from Henry Mancini to George Gershwin, from Billy Joel to Don McLean, from The Beatles to Elton John, from Guns n’ Roses to Queen, Lady Gaga, Garth Brooks, and Drake all the way to the Iowa and Iowa State Fight Songs.

Musicians “Robert and Elijah” of Midwest Dueling Pianos entertained the audience with fun renditions of the songs, all requested by the audience. Audience members were encouraged to sing along.

A generous donation included with a request made it much more likely the two talented pianists would play the song. The fundraising event, hosted by The Charles City PAWS Humane Society, raised money for the nonprofit organization, which acts as a safe place for the needs of animals and the community at large.

The night also included a prime rib dinner, served by Fredericka Locker. There were cupcakes for dessert, adult beverages, social interaction and a silent auction.

Midwest Dueling Pianos, based in Michigan, has teams of players all over the country, and the organization says it has recruited and trained some of the finest talent around, all veterans of the dueling piano industry.
