Larry Brewer, pictured, was among a group of volunteers organized by the Charles City Lions Club who were up before dawn on Sunday morning, raising American flags to decorate Central Park for Veterans Day. The Charles City Lions Club has volunteered for the last several years to set up and take down the flags. The last pole was installed just as the light of the sunrise reached Central Park Sunday morning. The flags were taken down at sunset on Sunday.

Volunteers who helped raise the flags at sunrise and take the flags down at sunset included Tad Berry, Bruce Cannon, DeLaine Freesman, Dick Herbrectsmeyer, Kurt Herbrectsmeyer, Mark Melrose, Jeff Otto, Brian Parrott, Kelvin Keifer, Donn Schaefer and Dean Tjaden, among others.
