High school shop auction

Hundreds of people showed up Saturday morning to make a bid or maybe just check out the merchandise, some of which was more than 80 years old, at Charles City High School’s shop auction.

Much of the machinery and equipment on the auction block dated back to the 1930s, 40s and 50s. The auctioneer was Jerry Hegtvedt of Cedar Valley Iowa Realty & Auction Co.

With the money from the auction, the school will purchase a new vertical mill and other computer numerical control (CNC) equipment.
