A Charles City woman charged with three felonies for allegedly providing a handgun to a man and then aiding him in assaulting another woman has pleaded guilty to one of the charges.
Tasiana Stephens, age 30, of Charles City, was charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony; going armed with intent, a Class D felony; and willful injury resulting in bodily injury, a Class D felony.
Stephens is accused of getting a handgun from her apartment and giving it to Tristan Walker, who allegedly used it to point at, threaten and strike another person in the head, causing a concussion.
The incident occurred on Aug. 11 in Charles City.
Stephens is also accused of sitting on top of the victim in the victim’s car and punching her several times, causing a golf-ball-sized lump on her forehead and other marks.
As part of a plea agreement, Stephens has entered a written plea of guilty to the charge of willful injury resulting in bodily injury, and the other two charges will be dismissed.
The Floyd County Attorney’s Office will recommend a sentence of up to five years in prison, suspended, and three to five years of probation, along with restitution and other costs and fees.
In addition, a no-contact order with the victim will be in effect.
A plea hearing has been set for Jan. 7 in Floyd County District Court. The judge is not required to follow the sentencing recommendation.
Walker was wanted for obstruction of emergency communications, first-degree burglary, false imprisonment, willful injury and going armed with intent with a dangerous weapon.
