Retiring teachers greeted friends, co-workers and former students Wednesday at the Charles City Elks Lodge, where a retirement tea was held.
Twelve Charles City educators, all retiring at the end of the 2018 school year, were honored at the event. Collectively, they’ve served the school district for 301 years.
Teachers recognized for their service on Wednesday included Anna Burnham (21 years), Marilyn Buttjer (16 years), Ardis Gisleson (36 years), Denise Holzer (29 years), Juanita Hughes (32 years), Sharon Kamoss (20 years), Dené Lundberg (33 years), Laura McDermott (31 years), Alan Nielsen (22 years), Pat Rottinghaus (11 years), Connie Schiller (30 years) and Linda Wedemeier (20 years).
