Four kids “graduated” from Kids Day at the Floyd County Museum Saturday morning.

Ellie Lantz, 8, Marissa Steward, 9, Raegen Patrie, 9, and Emma Schmitt, 9, each received a certificate for having attended the program for three years.

The Floyd County museum hosts children’s days on the first Saturday of the month through the fall and winter. It is free for museum members and $2 for non-members.

“They have been with us through their first, second and third grades,” said Floyd County Historical Museum Director Mary Ann Townsend about the graduates.

Some of the kids who were graduating tried to trick Townsend by telling her they were kindergarteners so they could come back next fall when they would actually be too old to attend.

The next museum Kids Day will be in October, Townsend said. In April and during the rest of the year there are too many other children’s activities going on.

The museum has been hosting regular children’s days for more than 15 years.

“Our goal is is to get children interested in the museum,” said Jody Flint, a volunteer at the Floyd County Historical Museum.
