Authorities have still not released the name of a third person killed in a traffic accident last Friday evening east of Charles City, but the condition of a person who was seriously injured in the crash is improving.

A spokesperson for the Iowa Highway Patrol office in Mason City said the patrol is awaiting positive identification of the third victim’s body before releasing a name.

Jacob Allen Mahnesmith, 28, of Nashua, and Shane Allen Wiltse, 28, of Charles City were both killed when the pickup Mahnesmith was driving allegedly ran a stop sign on 210th Street and ran into another pickup, according to a report by the state patrol.

The driver of the other pickup was also killed, and that is the person who has not been identified.

Thomas John Parcher, 29, of Marble Rock, was also a passenger in the Mahnesmith vehicle. He was airlifted by Mercy Air Med to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, then airlifted to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

He was originally listed in critical condition, and a report from Parcher’s family on a gofundme.com page says he suffered multiple injuries, including to his spinal cord, but he is now responsive and beginning to move his hands.

In addition to the gofundme page, an account to help the family with expenses has been set up at First Citizens Bank in Charles City. Donations can also be dropped off at the State Farm Insurance office.

A combined gathering of family and friends for Wiltse and Mahnesmith will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City.

A memorial service for Mahnesmith will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua. He is survived by his wife, Jessi, and two sons, as well as other family members.

A celebration of life for Wiltse will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John Evangelical Church in Charles City. He is survived by his wife, Lindsay, and a son and a daughter, as well as other family members.
