A Floyd County jury found a Charles City man guilty of third-degree sexual abuse in a trial last week.

Robert Ray Mannetter, age 29, was charged with performing a sex act on a 33-year-old woman by force or against her will. The event took place July 3, 2017, in Charles City, according to court documents.

Judge James Drew set a sentencing date for Aug. 31.

Sexual abuse in the third degree is a Class C felony. The penalty can be a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of between $1,000 and $10,000, and being subject to up to a lifetime of special parole supervision after being released from prison.

Mannetter is also charged in a separate case with domestic abuse assault, choking, for allegedly punching and placing his hand around the throat of a woman in June 2017, a Class D felony; and child endangerment, for allegedly acting in a manner that created a substantial risk to one or more children, also in June 2017, an aggravated misdemeanor.

The trial on those charges has been postponed until Aug. 7.

Mannetter is listed on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for conviction in 2005 as a 15-year-old of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse of a female victim under the age of 13, and of a female victim age 14-17.
