Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Thursday evening involving two Charles City residents just north of Waverly on the Avenue of the Saints, according to the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office.

The report said the accident occurred at 7:23 p.m. in the southbound lane of Highway 218 about 4½ miles northwest of Waverly, north of C33 Street.

A 2015 Toyota Sienna minivan driven by Dale Duryee of Charles City was traveling south on Highway 218 when it collided with a grain wagon being pulled by a John Deere tractor being driven by John White of Plainfield.

Duryee’s minivan was disabled and remained in the traveled portion of the highway, the Sheriff’s Office report said, and a 2000 Ford Taurus being driven by Shau Landt of Charles City collided with the minivan.

Duryee and a passenger were transported to Waverly Health Center for treatment of injuries. White and Landt were not injured.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues, the report said.

The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Plainfield Fire Department, Plainfield First Responders, Waverly Ambulance, S&T Collision and Towing and Marks Wrecker Service.
