He has pleaded not guilty and a trial in Floyd County District Court has been set for Tuesday, Jan. 8.

According to court records, a Floyd County deputy attempted to stop Wendling on Oct. 28 for driving with a headlight out. When Wendling allegedly refused to stop, other law enforcement officers joined the pursuit, at times traveling more than 25 mph over the speed limit.

After Wendling was stopped, he was found to have in his possession multiple baggies with a white crystal substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, the criminal complaint says. The car he was driving, a 2011 Cadillac, had been reported stolen in Oskaloosa, Kansas.
