Pearl Buckley

Pearl Buckley, 96, of Ames, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2016.

Pearl was born on June 11, 1919, to Matti and Fannie (Paavola) Kauppila in Finlayson, Minn. She attended school in Duluth, Minn.

Pearl married Melvin Buckley in 1939 and lived in Charles City between 1948 and 1961. She had lived in Ames since 1962. She owned and operated Point Cafe Restaurant at Main and Grand Avenue in Charles City from 1957 to 1961. Her hobbies included reading and tatting.

Pearl is survived by three sons: Gene of Ames; James of Melbourne, Fla.; and Gilbert Meier of Boone. She is also survived by a brother, Will, and a sister, Elsie.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ted; and a daughter, Betty.

Funeral services took place March 2, 2016 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial was in Winfield.
