Pauline Eda Wright King was born Aug. 2, 1919 to Henry John Wright and Henrietta Pahnisch Wright at the family farm located six miles west of Nashua. Pauline graduated from Nashua High School in 1936.

On May 18, 1940, Pauline was united in marriage to Stanley Lewis King at the St. John parsonage by Reverend Fritschel.

Soon after, she was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. To this union three children were born: Wayne John, Janice Marie (stillborn) and Janean Ann. They lived in the Charles City area until moving to Glendale, Ariz. in 1969, where Stanley worked at the White Experimental Farm and Pauline got a job at American Express where she worked as a key to tape operator until retiring and moving back to Charles City in 1982.

Stanley passed away in May of 1984 and Pauline continued to make her home in Charles City.

Pauline was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid Circle, Double Dozen Club, Riverton Homemakers Club and several card groups. She volunteered for several years as a Pink Lady at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Pauline was a past member of the Charles City Women’s Club, the Moose Lodge, and the Senior Citizens. She had compassion for the sick and ailing and spent time assisting them in the nursing home and at their homes. Pauline enjoyed dancing, quilting, crafting, flower gardening, playing cards, watching NASCAR races, demolition derbys, and tractor pulls.

Her family came first in her life and she enjoyed entertaining her great-grandchildren and romping on the floor with them.

Pauline is survived by her two children: Wayne (Jean) King of Charles City and Janean (John) Geer of Nevada; grandson: Ryan (Heather) Brubaker; great-grandchildren: Hope and Logan Brubaker; sister-in-law: Norma King; niece: Eloise (Scott) Gelner; nephew: Lester (Helga) King, Jr.; and many great nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley in 1984; brother Elvin Wright; sisters-in-law: Jane King and Eleanor Wright; brothers-in-law: Lester King, Sr. and Marvin R. King.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be given to the St. John Lutheran Church in Charles City or the Hospice of North Iowa.

Hauser Funeral Home, 641-228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of local arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hauserfh.com.
