Rose Lucille Bunn

Rose Lucille Bunn, 87, of Charles City, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City with her family by her side.

A funeral service for Rose Bunn will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Bill Odermann from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Rose Lucille (Brumund) Bunn was born on Feb. 22, 1929, to Harm and Mary (Adelmund) Brumund in Charles City. In her early years Rose was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, and attended grade school and high school in Charles City. She worked at Peerless Photo Studio developing photos for short time. On Sept. 28, 1947, Rose married Maurice H. Bunn at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home outside of Charles City on their Century Farm where they both worked tireless hours. Maurice taught Rose to waterski, and she was a very proficient swimmer. They enjoyed riding motorcycles (being among the first members of the Davis rallies), traveling out west and being involved with the Moose Lodge. Rose was also a member of the South Iowa Club.

Rose was a wonderful cook and baker who prepared meals for the workers in the fields during planting and harvesting. She also liked gardening (flowers and vegetables), crocheting, fishing and painting.

Living family members include her granddaughter, Jill (Jamey) Boehmer of Charles City; four great-grandchildren: Sierra Leech, Nola Leech, Elizabeth Boehmer and Kylie Boehmer; sister, Marlene Wik of Minneapolis, Minn.; along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice H. Bunn on Jan. 16, 2004; daughter, Debera (Bunn) Grove; son-in-law, Thomas Grove; and brother, Clarence Brumund.
