Marjorie DeBolt, 90, of Charles City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Mayo Clinic – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, Minn.

Memorial services for Marjorie will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at the First Congregational Church with Rev. Forrest Cornelius officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

A gathering of Marjorie’s family and friends will take place from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16 at Hauser Funeral Home, and an hour before the service on Monday.

Marjorie Eleanor DeVore was born on May 13, 1926, at home in Cass County to Guy and Bessie (Falconer) DeVore. Marjorie spent her early years in southwestern Iowa until her graduation from high school. On Sept. 10, 1945 she married Robert DeBolt at Corning. The couple began farming in Corning, then moved to Floyd County, where they farmed together for 50 years.

Marjorie had a very strong faith and was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church, where she held many different positions, including head of the memorial committee.

She loved her family dearly. She enjoyed socializing with friends while playing bridge, quilting, and at her library book study. Marjorie truly loved life.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter: Marilyn (Gary) Wilcke of Ames; twin brother: Max (Joyce) DeVore; seven grandchildren: Nicole (Ben) Girardet, Amy Moutenot, Beth (Christopher) Neipert, Nathan (Meredith) Wilcke, Ben O’Banion, Darcy DeBolt, and Lacy DeBolt; six great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 2012; children: Karen Moutenot, Patricia O’Banion, and Robert G. Debolt; and brothers: Norville, “Shorty” Loren, Arlie, Ralph, and “Slim” Watson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church in Charles City, the Charles City Public Library, or Floyd County Cancer Friends.
