Gordon L. Rohwedder was born in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Richard and Carole (Borchard) Rohwedder and died on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.  He attended public school graduating from Rockford High School in 1961.

Gordon was united in marriage to Cheryl Carlson on August 20, 1962, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  This union was blessed with two sons, Randy and Brad. The couple farmed in the Marble Rock area moving into Marble Rock in 1988. Gordon farmed over 2, 000 acres in the area retiring in 2008.

Gordy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock.  He served for five years as a councilmen and eight years as Mayor of Marble Rock. Gordy served eight years on the Floyd, Mitchell, and Chickasaw Solid Waste Management Agency. He was also a member of the Lions Club.

Gordy liked to tinker with cars and machinery, enjoyed playing golf with his wife and friends, crossword puzzles, ice fishing, riding his motorcycle and snow mobile. Gordy had a cabin in Philips, Wisconsin the family enjoyed together for mini vacations. He was very artistic and mechanical and fabricated many parts he need on the farm or for projects he tackled. He was a hard worker and was very dedicated to his family.  Gordy liked being a father and grandfather and was faithful to attend school functions.  Two highlights in Gordy’s life were when he was told he was going to be a grandfather and the farm sale at the end of his career that allowed him to recognize how successful he had truly been over the years.

After retirement he had his workshop to tinker in and to have coffee in with his friends every morning.
