Roger Grimm

Roger was born in Elma, Iowa on March 16, 1947, the son of Jim and Annabelle (Koebrick) Grimm. He attended Osage Schools and after graduation attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology. Roger served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 being stationed in Korea. Roger was united in marriage to Judy Lynn Holm on Nov. 26,1967 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, Iowa.  Roger and Judy have farmed in Howard County for 45 years. In addition to farming, he worked at White Farm Equipment Company, Fox River Mills, as a line mechanic, and for Hjelmeland Farms. Most recently he enjoyed his employment at Farmers Feed and Grain. Roger loved farming and fixing things, gardening and welding, candy and kids, bowling and bags, cattle and cards, and of course, wrestling. His competitive spirit never diminished. Restoring IH tractors in his beloved shop and engaging in local tractor pulls with his son were his most current joys. He loved all of his tractors. Most of all he loved his family, grandchildren and friends and expressed it often, whether that be with a bear hug or a tender embrace. Roger was a good man and liked to laugh.

Roger was a member of The American Legion, Riceville Kiwanis Group, American Bowling Association, and an active church member being a deacon, trustee and an usher in the past. Promoting blood donations in memory of Kim was important to him.

Roger is survived by his wife, Judy Grimm of Elma; one daughter, Holly Grimm-See and her husband Matt of Cedar Falls; his son, Ryan of Cedar Falls; three grandchildren, Keaton Shane, Madison See and Sydney See; his mother, Annabelle Grimm of Charles City; five sisters, Beverly Friend (Bob) of Charles City, Jeanne Loomer (Jim) of Greene, Kathy Grimm-Kimm of Charles City, Julie Foth (Lawrence) of Osage, Janelle Nuehring (Bill) of Rockwell; three brothers; LeRoy Grimm (Sue) of Nevada, IA, Richard Grimm (Theresa) of Osage, Robert Grimm (Shelley) of New Haven; sister- in- law, Carol Grimm of Osage; many nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbors and great friends. Roger is also survived by all of Judy’s family, which he loved as his own, many nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbors and great friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Joy Grimm; his father, James Grimm; a brother, Ralph Grimm; parents-in-law, Victor and Lorraine Holm, and beloved family members: Jim and Gloria Crumpton, Brian Crumpton, Tracy Crumpton, Dale Holm, Barb Holm, and Keith Onken.
