Ronald Dean Becker age 81, of Nashua, IA died Friday, March 16, 2018 at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner, IA.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home — Olson Chapel in Nashua, IA.

Interment will be held following the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Nashua with Spike Becker and Lindsey Johnston serving as urnbearers.

Friends may greet the family from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home — Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Online condolences for Ronald’s family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com

Ronald Dean Becker was born April 18, 1936 in Charles City, IA, the son of Wilbur and Dorothy (Lindsley) Becker. He attended Nashua Schools and graduated in 1954. While in school he was active in the FFA and was also an All-Conference Football player. He also met the love of his life in high school, Leah Rae Dann. The couple were married on July 22, 1956. To this union eight children were born.

After high school he worked at White Farms until 1971. He worked most of his life in insurance. He owned and operated Becker Insurance from 1982 – 2008 when he retired. He received many awards and won many trips from his success in the insurance industry.

Ronald enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, gambling, bingo and Yahtzee. He really loved playing cards. It didn’t matter what kind of card game it was, Ronald loved playing. A person would often catch themselves getting an earful from Ronald if they were his partner. He liked making clump and hedge cheese with his cousin Spike. One of his fondest memories was his hole-in-one at the golf course in Wyoming, Iowa.

Ronald is survived by two sons, Rodger (Zina) Becker of DeWitt, IA, Charles (Jonnie) Becker of Boone, IA; three daughters, Rhonda (Ted) Brockhouse of Davenport, IA, Terri (Mark) Johnston of Nashua, IA, Tamara (Ken) Pilling of Falcon, CO; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother Charles (Gwen) Becker of Iowa; one sister Sherrill Smith of Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leah in 1997; three sons, David Becker in 2009, Donald “Donny” Becker in 1974, Bradly Becker in 1974; one sister Marilyn Dralle in 2005.
