A combined gathering of family and friends with the family of Shane Wiltse will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Jake’s gathering will continue one hour prior to his service in Nashua on Thursday.

Jake was born on April 20, 1990 in Charles City to Tom Mahnesmith & Nanette (Nelson) Warn. He attended Charles City Community Schools where he excelled in all classes that involved hands-on work, earning him the fitting title of being a Jack-Of-All-Trades. Upon graduation from Charles City High School in 2008, Jake expanded his unique skill set by completing North Iowa Area Community College’s Tool & Die program. Upon graduation from NIACC he continued to pursue a career in welding which led him to his true passion as a Pipefitter with Industrial Piping Service. While working for IPS, Jake joined the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 33rd union where he participated in their Apprenticeship Program, later being recognized as Apprentice of the Year. Jake was a proud union member and loved his work family dearly.

On Nov. 30, 2012 Jake and high school sweetheart, Jessi Hansen welcomed their first child, Cooper James Mahnesmith to their home in Nashua. It was then that Jake took on his most important roll to date, being a daddy. Jake and Jessi were later married on March 5, 2016. Nov. 7, 2016 they welcomed their second child, Lincoln Thomas Mahnesmith. Jake had a unique and very special bond with both boys that was such a blessing to witness.

Jake had many hobbies in life some of which include; fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, watching football, having big cookouts, and spending time on the river or by a fire at Carville Cabins. Jake was a role model to his nephews and sons. He loved sharing his hobbies with the boys and watching them enjoy these things as well. Jake was always out in the shop working on a project with his friends and family close by keeping him company. Cooper was Jake’s right-hand man and loved helping dad with these various projects saying, “I have to learn somehow!”

Jake’s legacy will forever remain with those he loved most. Living family members include; his father, Tom (Connie) Mahnesmith; mother, Nanette (Bruce) Warn; grandmother, Paula Nelson; sister, Brittany (Nate) Rochford; Father-in-law, Jim (Lori) Hansen; mother-in-law, Leslie Lensing; sister-in-law, Tessa Weber; Uncle Todd (Connie) Nelson; nephews: Henry Rochford, Owen Weber, and Talan Weber. Jake will also be remembered by numerous members of his extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Skip Nelson; paternal grandparents, Ray & Jean Mahnesmith. In Heaven, Jake will be joining his and Jessi’s two angel babies where he will continue to be the amazing father that he was to Cooper and Lincoln.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
