Margaret Marian Crook Lackore: June 2, 1927 – May 25, 2018:

Born to Clell Crook and Francis Wilcox Crook.

Her mother died shortly after childbirth.

Raised by grandparents Art Crook and Gertrude Follansbee Crook in rural Floyd.

Graduated Floyd H.S. in 1946.

Taught 3rd and 4th grade Colwell where she met Donald Lackore her future husband. They married in 1948. Two sons: David (Seattle) and Dan (Charles City); deceased 2007, Deena Downs; Honorary Daughter and “one in a million.”

Graduated Upper Iowa, Fayette: 1974.

Taught kindergarten and 1st. Grade at: Floyd, Lincoln, and Washington. Over 30 years teaching in local schools. She had an extended family of teachers. They use to coffee at local establishments such as the old Uptown on Main.

Retired: 1st Grade Teacher Washington Elementary School in 1987 to join husband in San Luis Obispo, CA upon his retirement where she lived the rest of her life. She died at home after a long bout with Alzheimers; May 25th days short of her 91st birthday.

She loved signing ol‘ time songs at the San Luis Obispo Senior Citizens Center.

For all those who knew her teaching was her passion and her escape.

A Memorial will be held at her home: 1821 Sola Ct., San Luis Obispo, CA. 93405; June 11th. Please bring (or send) a remembrance, prayer, wish, poem, etc. and put it to paper where it will be deposited in her Hawaiian Dream Jar (urn). Lunch will be served afterwards.
