Norma Ann Ewald

180810_J_Ewald obitGreene:  Funeral services for Norma Ewald, 91, of Greene will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock with Pastor Dennis Burns officiating.  Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery, Marble Rock.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, August 12 at Retz Funeral Home, 519 N. First St. Greene.

Norma was born February 26, 1927 in Greene, Floyd County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Helen (Thompson) Hinrichsen and passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at the Valley View Care Center in Greene.  She received her education in Marble Rock and graduated from the Marble Rock High School. Norma later attended La James School of Beauty.

Norma was united in marriage to Eugene Ewald on October 3, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  This union was blessed with five children. Norma was a devoted farm wife and mother.  She attended her children’s school activities, sporting events, and was active with their 4H projects. Family was very important to her.

Norma was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock. She was a peace maker, was always very edifying, and had a warm smile and a strong faith. She was a member of the “Hi Neighbor Club”, the United Methodist Women’s Club, and a 500 Card Club. Norma was an accomplished cook and baker and will be remember for her fine meals and delicious pies.

Living family members include her children: Vicki (Mike) Majewski, Greene; Patti (Larry) Schulte, Carmel, IN;  Julie Ritter, Lake Mills;  Sherri Yerkey, Cave Creek, AZ;  Gary (Chris) Ewald, Evansdale; 14 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents; three brothers: Mervin, Alden and Perry; grandchild Nicolas Ewald; great grandchild Elsie Ritter; son-in-law Jim Ritter.
