Dianne Behnke

Dianne “Dee” Adelle Behnke, 67, of Waverly, died Thursday, August 9, 2018, at her home in Waverly after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dianne was born September 26, 1950, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Vanetta Gray. She graduated from Charles City High School with the class of 1969. On July 11, 1970, she was united in marriage to Larry Behnke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City. The couple would make their home in Ft. Madison, then Greene for a short time before landing in Waverly in 1982. She began her career at Terex Cranes in 1985 and worked as the Executive Secretary to the President for a majority of those years. She retired from Terex in 2010.

Dee loved to travel and play golf. In retirement, she and Larry enjoyed traveling each winter to The Villages in Florida. Over the years they traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Dee thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and watching them in their activities.

Dianne is survived by her husband, Larry, of Waverly, one daughter, Jennifer (Ryan) Buhr of Denver, one son, Cameron (Jessica) Behnke of Centennial, Colorado, two grandchildren, Blaine and Olivia Buhr, two sisters; Vicky Schroeder of Charles City and Linda Rohlf of Charles City. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard Gray, and two brothers-in-law, Russ Schroeder and Dennis Rohlph.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Waverly with Pastor Arthur Bergren officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and for an hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
