Marlene Faught

180813_J_Marlene Faught obitMarlene (Schonemann) Faught, age 96, formerly a long-time resident of Charles City, IA, passed away in Aiken, SC on August 7, 2018.  She was comforted at her passing by her daughter Janet and son-in-law Dick Singer.

Marlene was born to parents John and Kate Schonemann on January 18, 1922.  She was one of ten children who made Northeastern Iowa their home.

Marlene was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Married to her love, Bernard Faught, for nearly 58 years, they enjoyed spending time together playing golf, doing work on behalf of the American Legion and being actively involved in the Charles City community.  Even though she resided in Aiken, SC for nearly a decade, Marlene reminisced often about her hometown and all the special times she enjoyed with family and friends.

Together, they raised three children.  She was very proud of her kids and their many accomplishments. They were the light of her life.  She was adored by her 7 grandchildren and by her 15 great grandchildren.  They will treasure their times with her always.

Marlene loved holidays and family reunions.  She would take any chance she could to spend time with those she loved. She enjoyed gardening, baking, canning and playing Bingo.  Her grandkids all cherish the memories of family times enjoying her cooking and playing card games together.  She leaves not only a legacy of love but also of raisin cookies, orange cake and home-canned pickles.

She had an infectious spirt, loved life fiercely, was never judgmental and was quick to forgive.  She had a great sense of humor and was a friend to all.   She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marlene was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Faught, devoted mother of Janet (Dick) Singer, Linda (Larry) Kepple and Larry (Christie) Faught.  She was the loving Grandma/Nana to Lori, Jennifer, Allyson, Kim, Jay, Missy and Valerie and was a blessing to 15 great-grandkids.  She is also survived by her brother Randall Schonemann and sister Sylvia (Russell) Frascht.

The family wants to thank the Ladies Circle and Pastor Ruth of First Baptist Church for their continued thoughtfulness and contact with Marlene throughout her years in Aiken.

Mrs. Faught will be laid to rest in a private burial next to her husband, Bernard in beautiful Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.   Family will later hold a graveside memorial with the date to be announced once plans have been finalized.
