Patsy Rouse

180831_J_Rouse, Patsy-obitPatsy Rouse, 76, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City under the care of hospice and with her family around her.

According to her wishes, Patsy will be cremated and there will be no services.  A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

Patsy Ann (Tudor) Rouse, the daughter of Elmer and Marjorie (Scheppler) Tudor, was born March 23, 1942 in Clarion, Iowa.  She and her family moved to rural Colwell in 1950 when Patsy was eight years old and she continued her education.  Patsy attended Colwell Consolidated High School and graduated in 1959.  While going to school she met her future husband, Elliott “Duff” Rouse, and the couple was married June 4, 1959 at the rectory of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  They made their home on Patsy’s parents’ farm southeast of Colwell until moving into Charles City in 1965.  Patsy and Duff lost their home to the tornado in 1968, but rebuilt in the same location moving into their new home in late fall of 1968.

Patsy was a cancer survivor for 40 years, but constantly battled not only cancer but the effects of the radiation treatments she received.  She worked at Sherman Nursery in Charles City as a receptionist and retired after 20 years.  Patsy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, loved antiquing, having coffee with her girlfriends and getting together for family reunions.  Spending time and visiting with family and friends were highlights in her life.

Living family members include her husband of 59 years, Elliott “Duff” Rouse of Charles City; children:  Todd Rouse of Coralville, Shawn (Shelley) Rouse of Ankeny and Trisha (Kory) Weiss of Charles City; grandchildren:  Callie (Keenan) Johnson, Nate (Ashley) Weiss, Amber (Jason) Augustine, Trey Rouse, Darien Rouse and Nyah Rouse; great-grandchildren:  Brett, Ben and Katelyn Augustine and two soon to arrive; mother, Marjorie Tudor; siblings:  Janean Kober of Charles City, Kerry (Connie) Tudor of Hudson, Illinois, Jeff (Deb) Tudor of Thornton and Connie Hughes of Mesa, Arizona; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Tudor and her son, Scott Rouse who passed away on April 18, 2017.
