Alyce Hocking

Alyce Hocking, 83, of Floyd, passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service for Alyce Hocking will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd with Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd following the service.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Alyce Joy Ludvigson, the daughter of Casper and Margie (Snyder) Ludvigson, was born on Aug. 28, 1935 in Madison, Minnesota. During high school she enjoyed her time as a cheerleader. She graduated in 1952. She worked for 32 years at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Alyce was united in marriage to Bobby Hocking on Dec. 10, 1955 in Fontana, California.

Alyce was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Charles City Twisters, called Dugan’s Restaurant her second home, and supported the Floyd County Medical Center Heartbeats softball team. She was a camping enthusiast, coordinating queen, and Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, and canning. She enjoyed being a vendor at flea markets and craft shows, attending auctions, and traveling down to Texas. Her greatest joys in life came from her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Living family members include her four children: Robert and Debra Hocking of Charles City, Cindy and Tom Lea of Milan, Minnesota, Tami and Dave Knecht of Charles City, and Shellie and Todd Koenigsfeld of Floyd; 14 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Joe) Knecht, Allison Hocking, Emily (Roy) Watson, Jennifer Hentges, Stephanie (Craig) Loch, Stacey Lea, Tiffany (Brandon) Fuerstenberg, Nathan Knecht, Nichole (Frank) Ashley, Dustan (Darcy) Knecht, Shane, Brodie, Meghan, and Devon Koenigsfeld; 21 great-grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua, Isabella and Hannah Asqui, Alyssa and Benjamin Loch, Ahron Fuerstenberg, Thor and Sophie Hewitt, Martin and Dennis Ashley, Caleb, Alex, Sadie, and Abigail Watson, Trent, Dalten, and Evee Knecht, Oliver Titus, and Jenna and Wesley Knecht; sisters: Gini Gearman and Twila (Ordell) Vaala of Madison, Minnesota, and Donna Ludvigson of Edgewood, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bobby Ray Hocking in 2015; parents, Casper and Margie (Snyder) Ludvigson; parents-in-law, Clara and James Hocking; brother, Casper Ludvigson Jr.; brother-in-law, Doug Gearman; aunt, Mildred Huster; and nephew, Lonnie Ludvigson.
