Robert ‘Bob’ Chambers

Robert “Bob” Chambers, 73, of Elma, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Colwell Community Center with “Social Hour” to follow at the Colwell Tap beginning at 7 p.m.

Robert “Bob” Eugene Chambers was born Feb. 10, 1946 in Charles City, Iowa the son of James “Jim” and Frances (Ferch) Chambers.

Bob married Lynda DeVries of Elma on Feb. 20, 1965. They were blessed to be married 54 years. They had four children: Robin Pride, Bud Chambers, Ranae (Bob) Hejna and Roxanne Meek; nine grandchildren: Matt Pride, Eric “Robert” Pride, Abby Pride, Chelsy Fenneman, Cole “Robert” Chambers, Bailee Hejna, Caleb Hejna, Ty Hejna and Kamden “Robert” Meek; three great-grandchildren: Zoe Wilson, Ryder Fenneman and Hoyt “Robert” Fenneman. Bob also has one surviving brother, Greg (Jo) Chambers; along with many nieces and nephews.

Bob grew up and lived in Colwell for years. In 1974, Bob and Lynda bought and ran the gas station. He was also Fire Chief for years. Bob finished out his working career at McNeilus in Riceville before retiring.

Bob loved NASCAR and went to several races at The Texas Motor Speedway. He enjoyed watching football and golfing. His passion was fishing and he would fish for hours. The last several years Bob spent his time up at their trailer in Lake City, Minnesota which he referred to as his “favorite” place. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ranae Hejna; son-in-law, Doug Pride; sister, Donna Anderson and brother, James “Jimmy” Chambers.
