Ice cream social a big success

Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make our 9th annual Senior Citizens’ Ice Cream Social. It was such a success. Whether you made and/or donated food, donated your time and/or money, whether you came to eat and support the cause, you made it all happen. We made 50 pounds of maidrites, 50 pounds of potato salad, and nine gallons of pork and beans. Special kudos to Charles City’s fine pie makers. Wow! We had 36 pies to choose from—and ice cream also if one wished.

A lot is happening at the Senior Center these days — cards, pool, jam sessions, along with many interesting programs and music for everyone. Congregate meals are also served Monday-Friday at noon. Please stop and get a schedule or check the CC Press for menus and activities. KCHA and Channel 4 are also so helpful to us. Again, our thanks.
