Letter to the Editor: New jail would be money well spent

By Dan Mallaro, Charles City

The members of the Floyd County Board of Supervisors, after much thought and study, have decided to ask the voters of Floyd County to pass a referendum to finance the building of a new jail.

Those who serve the public in relatively small venues like the supervisors serve, are aware their decisions are subject to scrutiny. And they know the voters want to know their tax money is being well spent.

The supervisors have studied the issue and have decided a new jail is a necessity. It will be a much safer jail for the sheriff and his staff, and over time it will pay for itself.
