CHARLES CITY — Even if you can run with John Wall, the NBA’s fastest man while dribbling, you’ll still never win a race with a well-passed ball.

That’s why the 1980s-era Boston Celtics — even with players not known for their footspeed — really put the “fast” into fastbreak with deft and opportune long upcourt passes.

The Crestwood Cadets, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, employ that same type of pass-propelled fastbreak. And they put it to good use while disposing of Charles City, 72-15, in Northeast Iowa girls basketball action Friday in Comet Gym.

Shannon Pisney led the charge with 23 points, Sharon Goodman — who plays much bigger than her listed height of 6-foot-2 — added 17 for the undefeated Cadets, who improved to 14-0 overall and 8-0 in NEIC play.

Rylee Hageman scored a career-high 6 points to lead the Comets (0-14, 0-8).
