Comet boys golfers win on the road; CC girls victorious at home

Both the Charles City boys and girls golf teams were victorious in their respective meets on Tuesday.

In Oelwein, Charles City seniors Theo Arndt and Carter Johanningmeier, and junior Jackson Molstead all tied with medalist scores of 43 to lead the Comets, who shot a first-place team score of 174.

Oelwein was second (190) followed by Cresco (210).

The Charles City jayvee team shot a first place score of 193 ahead of Oelwein (225) and Crestwood (237).

At Cedar Ridge, the Charles City girls team scored 217 to best Cresco (222) and Turkey Valley (251).

Cresco’s Isabella Lehmkuhl shot a 50 for medalist honors.

Charles City’s Marrissa Daniels was runner-up with a 52.

Other scoring Comets included Hope Slinger (54), Emma Williams (55) and Kara Hoffman (56).

“I was very pleased at the continued improvement of the team as the season progresses,” Charles City girls head coach Eric Johanningmeier said. “We are going to continue work around the greens.

“It has been a great start … good to see the determination of all players to get better.”
