Sindlinger, Hoeft named to All-NEIC girls basketball teams

CHARLES CITY — For the third season in a row, Charles City senior Jodie Sindlinger is an All-Northeast Iowa Conference Girls Basketball selection.

Sindlinger was named to the All-NEIC second team for the second year in a row. As a sophomore, Sindlinger was an All-NEIC honorable mention selection.

Sindlinger led the Comets in scoring (9.5 ppg) while shooting 49 percent from the floor. She also led the team in free throws made while shooting 60 percent from the foul line, and blocked shots.

Sindlinger was second on the team in rebounds after leading Charles City in scoring and rebounding her junior season.

As for this season’s leader in rebounds for the Comets … that was freshman Ashlyn Hoeft, who was an All-NEIC honorable mention selection.

The only freshman listed among the All-NEIC teams, Hoeft and fellow Charles City freshman Lydia Staudt tied for second on the team in scoring (5.4 ppg). Hoeft was also among the team’s leaders in steals.

The All-NEIC first team selections included sophomore Abbie Draper and junior Britney Young of Waverly-Shell Rock; sophomore Annika Headington and senior Maddie Ahlstrom of Waukon; junior Sharon Goodman of Crestwood; senior Drew Becker of Oelwein; and senior Maddi Moorman of New Hampton.

Other All-NEIC second team selections included seniors Olivia Phillips and Laura Bates of Waverly-Shell Rock; junior Laken Lienhard of Crestwood; senior Lauren Griffith of Waukon; senior Lauren Frerichs of New Hampton; and junior Ambria Pipho of Decorah.

Other All-NEIC honorable mention selections included junior Camryn Grawe of Waverly-Shell Rock; senior Brooklyn Ferrie of Crestwood; senior Sydney Ross of Waukon; junior Alexa Wemark of New Hampton; senior Haley Woodson of Oelwein; and sophomore Emma Nierengarten of Decorah.

With a conference leading five All-NEIC selections, Waverly-Shell Rock will face Mason City in the quarterfinal round of the Class 4A State Girls Basketball Championships, 1:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at Wells Fargo Arena.
