FOREST CITY — The Charles City Comets boys wrestling team placed sixth out of 10 teams at Saturday’s Forest City Invitational.

Algona paced the field with 242 team points; the Comets compiled 106.5.

Comet senior Nathan Lopez was his team’s lone bracket champion as he went 3-0 with a pair of fall victories and a major decision while wrestling at 145.

Comet senior Trevor Peterson nearly earned Charles City another individual title but lost a 3-2 decision to Emmetsburg’s Ben Saxton in the 195-pound championship match.

Charles City sophomore Carter Haberkorn placed second in the 106-pound bracket.

Comet senior Kayden Blunt, who like Lopez is a returning district qualifier, placed third while going 3-1 within the 182-pound bracket.

Comet senior Colton Anderegg placed fourth in the 160-pound bracket.
