Public events scheduled in the Charles City Area

THURSDAY, OCT. 3

Upon This Rock Church is holding a “King’s Kids” event where parents can get a break while their kids are fed dinner, given a lesson and do a craft, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the church, 709 Ste. 2 N. Main St., Charles City; for reservations call 641-220-4274.

FRIDAY, Oct. 11

Floyd County Museum will present “Night at the Museum” from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring “Ghosts of Floyd County’s past” hanging around and sharing stories; adults are $5 and kids get in free, no registration required; attendance in Halloween costume is welcomed.


SATURDAY, OCT. 12

Coats for Kids event from 9 a.m. to noon at St. John Evangelical Church, 200 S. Main St., Charles City; children should be present so they can try on winter items for fit; limited supply.

Charles City Community Veterans Day Program will be presented by the Charles City FFA at the Middle School gym beginning at 10:15 a.m.; doors open to the public at 9:30 a.m.


SATURDAY, NOV. 16

Floyd County Museum Chautauqua Talk, 10 a.m., “Hamlin Garland’s Life in Northeast Iowa,” with Kurt Meyer.


FRIDAY, DEC. 13

Charles City FFA will host a college and career fair with the first rotation at 8:50 p.m., ending about 2 p.m; FCS classes will provide lunch.

• Charles City Farmers Market held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. starting Saturday, May 4, and running through Saturday, Oct. 19, adjacent to Central Park along Blunt Street.

• Charles City Mobile Food Pantry distribution first Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Youth Enrichment Center at the Floyd County Fairgrounds, 2516 7-Mile Road, Charles City; for more information call 641-220-1769.
