Floyd County Community Foundation Annual Awards Ceremony begins with social time at 5:30 p.m. at the YEC building at the Floyd County Fairgrounds, followed by the grant awards to area organizations and communities beginning at 6 p.m.
THURSDAY, JAN 16
“Coffee and Conversation,” 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Charles City McDonald’s, includes updates from various Charles City government and other entities, free coffee and opportunity to ask questions; hosted by the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce.
SATURDAY, JAN. 18
Floyd County Museum Chautauqua Talk at 10 a.m.; Christopher Anthony of Otto’s Oasis will discuss the history of various flower shops and greenhouses in Floyd County and will do a floral arrangement.
The Charles City Arts Council’s annual meeting will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Charles City Arts Center; all members invited and encouraged to bring comments and suggestions; includes annual reports from the Arts Council and affiliates.
Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce Bingo, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Columbus Club, 502 Clark St.; includes bingo games, cash prizes, a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, snack concessions and a cash bar.
THURSDAY, JAN. 30
Public Naloxone training by Cerro Gordo Public Health, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Charles City Public Library, and 5 p.m. at the Charles City First Baptist Church; learn to identify signs of opioid overdose, how to administer Narcan, and receive a free Narcan nasal kit; registration required.
