An opportunity for women to take care of themselves and learn more about health topics will be offered by the Floyd County Medical Center next week.

“Ladies Night” will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at the Medical Center.

Viva Boerschel, the director of nursing, said the event is an opportunity for women to concentrate on themselves and their own health, stepping out of their frequent role of taking care of others.

“We’ll have screening mammography, vein screening and other resources available so you can come for a night to take care of you, looking at cardiac, diabetic, meal planning — just a lot of different things,” she said.

“VIP” appointments are required to reserve a spot for mammogram screening, lower extremity vein screening and bone density scans. Those reservations can be made by calling 641-257-4309.

Other health topics that will be addressed and do not require a reservation are:

  • Hormone Replacement Therapy — Joanne Starr, ARNP.
  • Midwifery Services — Judi Halbach, ARNP, CNM.
  • Breast Cancer Care Clinic — Heather Lewis, CMA.
  • Diabetic Management — Kayla Kellogg, DNP.
  • Vein Clinic — Angela VanGilder, DO, FACS, and Allie Wesselmann, RN, BSN.
  • Nutrition Therapy — Mindy Ellsworth, RDN/LD, CDE.
  • Buy, Eat, Live Healthy — ISU Extension & Outreach.
  • Pelvic Floor Training — Kim Sterken, OTR/L, and Kayla Sullivan, SOT/L.
  • Blood Pressure Monitoring — Public Health Staff.
