A Charles City man who had been sought on a warrant since August 2018 after allegedly failing to show up for a plea change hearing has been arrested in Plymouth County and returned to Floyd County.

Kjoe Joseph, 37, had been arrested on Feb. 2, 2018, after allegedly assaulting a Charles City police officer during a bar fight. He was charged with assault on persons engaged in certain occupations, a serious misdemeanor.

According to court documents, the officer was sent to the bar because of a fight in progress, and when he arrived at the bar Joseph allegedly began swinging at him. The officer ended up using his Taser on Joseph, and reported that Joseph resisted arrest the entire time.

Joseph was taken into custody and later released on his own recognizance.

In March 2018 a court order said that a plea agreement has been reached and a plea hearing was set for May that year, but Joseph allegedly did not show up at the hearing and a warrant was issued for his arrest on May 15, 2018.

Joseph was arrested in Clarke County in June that year, and posted $75 — 10% of the $750 arrest bond. After appearing in Floyd County he was again released on his own recognizance and the plea hearing was scheduled for July, then later rescheduled for August.

Joseph allegedly failed to appear at the August plea hearing and a warrant was again issued for his arrest and the original bond was forfeited.

Joseph, who now lists his address as Le Mars, was arrested on Monday in Plymouth County and transported to Floyd County. A plea hearing as now been set for Feb. 16 in Floyd County District Court.

Joseph was released from custody on Wednesday after posting $500 cash bond, 10% of the bond that had been set.
