Betty Lusk
Betty Lusk, 76, of Charles City, formerly Floyd, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2021 at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
A funeral service for Betty Lusk will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Charles City with Pastor Matt Howlett officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd.
Visitation will be held at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021 and will continue one hour before the funeral service at the church on Saturday.
Betty Louise (Norton) Lusk, the daughter of Lester and Gladys (Scott) Norton, was born Jan. 30, 1945 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. She attended school in Pennsylvania before moving to Owatonna, Minnesota with her family where she continued her education and graduated high school. Betty then went to Sioux Falls College for three years.
On April 1, 1967, Betty was united in marriage to John Lusk at Owatonna First Baptist Church by the Reverend John Wooden and her father. Betty and John lived in several cities, including Harlan, Iowa for almost 15 years, before returning to the Floyd area due to their health. While living in Harlan, Betty worked for AEA 13 as the Parent Educator Coordinator and then transitioned to full-time grandmother.
Betty was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and First Baptist Church in Charles City. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family. Betty particularly loved raising her children and helping raise her grandchildren as well.
Living family members include her husband, John Lusk of Floyd; children: Barbara Yendra of Gibbon, Nebraska, David (Kim) Lusk of Osage, Eric Lusk of Charles City, Andrew (Jennifer) Lusk of Floyd, Aaron Lusk of Johnston and Nathan (Kristy) Lusk of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren: Brittany (Jason) King, Luke (Jena) Lusk, Maya Lusk, Julian Bowman, Coyer Lusk, Amber Lusk, Abby Lusk and Vincent Lusk; five great-grandchildren: Sophie, Wyatt, Ryland, Cheyenne and Maranda; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and several other family members.
