Comets Blunt, Weber finalists at Keith Young Wrestling Invitational

CEDAR FALLS — Charles City 182-pound senior Kayden Blunt and 152-pound sophomore Talan Weber both advanced to the championship bouts of their brackets before both placing second at Saturday’s Keith Young Invitational.
Blunt went 3-1 with a pair of fall victories while compiling a team-high 22 points and Weber went 2-1 while scoring 18 points for the Comets, who placed seventh amid 16 teams with 114 team points.
Don Bosco won the meet with 216 team points.
Charles City senior 220-pounder Ethan Peterson went 3-1 with a pair of falls while placing third in his bracket.
Returning district qualifier Nathan Lopez placed third in his 145-pound bracket while going 3-1 with a pair of fall victories.
Comet junior Jordan Young recorded the most victories for Charles City while going 4-1 and placing fifth amid a crowded 120-pound bracket.
Carter Haberkorn (106) and Trevor Peterson (195) both went 2-2 in their respective brackets.
Other Comet wrestlers recording wins during the invite were Colton Anderegg (160), Carter Burkhardt (170) and Dantrell Baker (285).
