Perfect day for Marble Rock’s 2024 Relics and Rides

It would be hard to imagine a more perfect day for an outdoor community event.
Sunny but not hot, a pleasant breeze instead of blustering wind, and a break in the rain that – after more than a year with too little – has come back lately with a vengeance.
The blissful weather likely contributed to the large number of participants and visitors to the Marble Rock Historical Society’s annual “Relics and Rides” car show and museum open house, held Saturday, May 25.
There were 58 entries in the car show, according to Historical Society member Jan Losee. They represented a wide variety of years, models and states of restoration, ranging from many-decades-old models that looked like they just rolled off the showroom floor, to others that had been extensively modified – for speed, comfort, or any combination of attributes that fit their owners’ goals.
Winners of the car show were:
• President’s Pick – Jim Bublitz, 1946 Ford Anglia.
• Mayor’s Choice – Bob Bansman, 1946 half-ton Chevy pickup.
• CUSB Pick – Tod Pralle, 1960 Plymouth Fury.
• Whitetails Favorite – Dwight Shanak of Wisconsin, 1937 Chevy Coupe.
Clayton Black, a member of the Marble Rock Historical Society, said they couldn’t have hoped for a nicer day and everything was going great. He was urging folks to check out the new “Eclectic Emporium” gift shop that was open for business behind the Beelar Station Main Street facade.
In addition to the car show, nine Historical Society buildings were open free of charge, there was free popcorn available on the street, free root beer floats in the Historic Drug Store, and even haircuts available in the Historic Barber Shop.
Lunch was available on the lawn at the former Lutheran church that the Historical Society acquired last fall.
