CC Police recover property from string of burglaries

Chief says public was instrumental in getting search warrant

The Charles City Police Department recovered stolen property from a string of car burglaries on Wednesday during execution of a search warrant in the 900 block of D Street, the department announced on its Facebook page.

Charles City resident David Stoner, 19, was arrested on an unrelated Black Hawk County warrant during the search. He was transferred from the Floyd County Jail to Black Hawk County on Thursday morning.

The burglary case is still under investigation, Police Chief Hugh Anderson said, and no arrests related to the case have been made as of Thursday.

The burglaries began late Nov.

4 on the north side of Charles City, then continued two days later on the south side of town. Burglars entered at least one or two home garages that the department is aware of, Anderson said, and focused on taking small items and cash from unlocked cars.

All incidents that the department is aware of happened on residential property.
