Floyd County’s lead jailer leaves for new job
The Floyd County Jail’s lead jailer, April Watenphul, has left her position to take a new job at Gerard Academy Youth Shelter in Austin, Minn. She was hired originally hired to fill a part-time jailer vacancy in October 2009 and was eventually promoted to the leadership position.
Sheriff Rick Lynch has added two part-time jailers since Watenphul’s exit. They began work on Monday.
Sonya Cotton, who is a certified jailer in Iowa, was hired at $15.37 per hour. Angela Robel was hired at $14.37 per hour and will move up to $15.37 per hour when she obtains her jailer certification from the state.
