The Charles City Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 18 and Clark Street about noon Wednesday.

According to a release from the department, a 2006 Chevrolet HHR being operated by Charlotte Junker, 76, Nashua, was traveling north on Highway 18 and turned left toward Clark Street into the path of a 1998 Ford Expedition being operated by Autumn Peterson, 16, Ionia, as Peterson was southbound on Highway 18.

The Peterson vehicle struck the Junker vehicle, causing both to end up on Clark Street just west of Highway 18. No one was transported from the scene for medical reasons, the police said.

Junker was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn. Total damage to the vehicles was estimated at $9,000.
