Smile Specialists

Dental hygienists visited Washington Elementary School on Monday and offered dental sealants and oral health exams to pre-registered second-grade students. The program helps establish proper dental hygiene at home and offers services to families who may lack insurance, transportation or other barriers to safe and effective oral health care.

The hygienists were from I-Smile@School, which offers a team of dental professionals who visit schools to provide the screenings. The team also helps to improve the communication between parents and dental offices, and helps families establish dental homes.

They were provided through North Iowa Community Action Organization (NICAO), which is one of 18 Community Action agencies in Iowa. The organization is a private, not-for-profit organization.
