Two active water main breaks that occurred over the course of the last two days in Charles City will be repaired this morning, according to Water Superintendent Cory Spieker.

One break took place at the intersection of the 500 block of South Main and 2nd Street. The other happened at Rob Roy Lane, near the Floyd County Medical Center.

Spieker said response to a call to locate the damage, dig and repair, was slowed due to weather issues. Charles City residents were having trouble with water pressure after the breaks and with water running down streets in the affected areas that would freeze.

“It’s been turned down, believe it or not, and it’s still coming up pretty good. Everybody has water,” said Spieker at Monday’s City Council planning session. “We plan on taking care of them both tomorrow morning.”
