Party in the Park series set to return for 17th season in Charles City

To The Press

The snow is almost gone, spring is in the air and that means summertime and Party in the Park can’t be far behind.

The dates, themes and bands have been set for the 2019 Party in the Park summer event series hosted by Community Revitalization.

Now in its 17th year, Party in the Park features free live music in Central Park from 5-9 p.m. on select Friday nights, along with food and beverage vendors, the Pubcrawlers beer garden, children’s games and special activities.

“It is a family-friendly event designed to not only bring the community together, but also help showcase and attract visitors to Charles City,” said Mark Wicks, community development director.

The schedule kicks off June 7 with an ‘80s Night theme and live music by the band Redline. It’s Country Night on June 21, featuring Wild Card on stage, while the band Highway 9 will be featured on Family Game Night July 12.

Wear your favorite team colors on Tailgating Night, July 26, with music by the Jay Clyde Band. Then dig in the closet and break out your classic look for Retro Night on Aug. 9, with Charles City’s own Endless Summer.

The Party in the Park Committee is currently taking applications for food and activity vendors for its summer series, Wicks said.

Anyone interested in being a food vendor, or in providing an activity in the park as a fundraiser or promotional outreach, or who is seeking more information about the event, should contact Wicks at the Community Revitalization Office, 401 N. Main St., 641-228-2335, or by email to info@charlescitychamber.com.

Community Revitalization is Charles City’s Main Street Iowa program and a volunteer-led, non-profit organization dedicated to making Charles City a better place to live, work and play.
