Trivia questions, pie iron cooking over an open flame and tram ride tours are just a few of the attractions that the Floyd County Outdoor Family Fair will feature on Saturday at Tosanak Recreation Area near Marble Rock.

Expect a sunny sky and temperatures to reach 70 degrees over the weekend when the fair will follow the Tosanak 5K Trail Run/walk that starts at 9 a.m. Saturday.

“There’s a lot going on,” said Adam Sears, Floyd County Conservation Director.
Kids and family members can all participate in the many free and exciting activities offered. The fair will start at 10 a.m. and run until 2 p.m.

The Charles City Ikes will help anyone that wants to learn and have fun building a bird box at the Redtail Shelter.

The Floyd County Turkey Trackers will also have their BB gun station set up for anyone interested to take part in that informative and learning experience.

Archers can also use a bow to take target practice with the help of Double C Archery.

The CERT trailer, along with Floyd County Emergency Management, will also be located on the grounds of the 370-acre recreation area for anyone interested in checking that out.

The Girl Scouts will be making s’mores at Darling Cabin on one of the campground fire pits.

The Fossil and Prairie Conservation Station will also teach attendees of the fair on how to cook with a pie iron over hot coals.

NRCS (National Resources Conservation Service) will also have a station near the Lacey Lodge.

Nathan Mead can help anglers practice their casting skills with Floyd County Conservation staff members.

Pheasants Forever will also help anyone that wants to beautify and enhance the recreation area by planting prairie plugs in the Pollinator Habitat.

Tram rides will offer scenic views of nature and wildlife habitat that exists in the area. Those tours will start at 10:30 a.m. and will run periodically throughout the day.

Everyone should make sure to submit the answers for several trivia question drawings that could earn them door prizes. Attendees should also make sure to sign the guest registry and start a scavenger hunt.

There will be free will donation lunch of pulled pork sandwiches as well.
