Some members of the Charles City FFA have been traveling the nation and earning awards recently.
FFA members Laurie Hart, Drew Staudt, Justin Heyer and Lauren Connell attended the National FFA Washington Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., last week.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the leadership conference is one of the many ways the national FFA organization offers members leadership training. It is the last of a three-part conference series called the Chapter Leadership Continuum.
Other Charles City FFA members attended the Iowa FFA Agronomy, Ag Mechanics and Food Science Career Development Events at Iowa State University in Ames on June 20.
The food science team of Max Deeter, Jodie Sindlinger, Gillian Anderson and Lynn Hoeft finished fourth overall gold.
The agricultural mechanics team of Blake Frascht, Ben Naumann, Tanner Heitz and Brady Frascht took home eighth place gold.
The agronomy team of Sarah Mitchell, Bronson Forsythe, Cael Ruzicka and Nathan Schultz took home a Silver.

A “Piety in the Park” worship service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, July 13, in Central Park in Charles City, presented by Trinity United Methodist Church.
The service will be followed by a performance of the band Damascus Road, made up of local musicians, including Trinity Pastor Don Preston.
Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs to the service and concert.
