Some sweet summer succulence has arrived in Charles City.

Nicole Harrington and Jalynn Pratt have been on the job each morning since last Friday, their pickup truck parked in the Ace Hardware parking lot, filled with ears of Harrington’s sweet corn.

Harrington’s sweet corn trucks bring the regional treat to 8-10 different communities in the area. The produce farm, located near Nashua, covers a regional triangle with the cities of Decorah, Clear Lake and Cedar Falls at the corners. The produce farm sends 8-12 trucks out each day to nearly every community within those borders.

Harrington and Pratt said they started coming last Friday and have come “pretty close to selling out” each day since. They said they sold out completely on both Friday and Saturday, and the Iowa dinner table staple is in high demand.

The two said the plan is to be here selling sweet corn every day this week. The Harringtons have been in the sweet corn business for more than 50 years.

The sweet corn will be sold through the end of September.
